ردیاب دود نوری یا همان آشکار ساز دود متعارف آپولو Orbis ساخت کشور انگلیس بر اساس اصل پراکندگی نور عمل می کند .
فناوری استفاده شده در این دتکتور با آشکارسازهای اپتیکال (نوری) دیگر، تفاوت اساسی دارد و هشدارهای دروغین را به میزان قابل توجهی کاهش می دهد.
به آتش سوزی های کند و سوزان پاسخ می دهد.
